Habanero Honey Hot Wing

Updated: Apr 27, 2020

Looking to impress your friends at the next game night, or maybe you just want to change your normal meal routine up. This ooey-gooey, sweet and spicy, wing recipe is sure to hit the spot and will leave you wanting more.

Ingredients:

Prepping your wings --

Dozen chicken wings ( I used a combination of both wings and drumsticks)

1 tbsp salt

1 tbsp baking soda

1 tsp garlic powder

½ tsp cayenne

½ tsp paprika

½ tsp cumin

¼ tsp ground black pepper

2 cups oil for frying ( I use sunflower )

Sauce --

1 tbsp unsalted butter

1 tsp chili pepper flakes

2 cloves garlic, finely minced or use press

2 habanero peppers, finely minced (optional)

½ cup Honey Llama Farms Habanero Honey ( or any honey will do )

How To:

Ready your wings --

  1. Toss wings with salt and baking soda, coating evenly. Line on a baking tray and set in the fridge anywhere from 1hour to 24hours. This will help dry out the skin, allowing for a crispier fry.

  2. In a small bowl, whisk together your garlic powder, cayenne, paprika, cumin and ground black pepper.

  3. Once you have dried out your wings toss with spice mixture, making sure that all wings are coated evenly.

Ready to fry --

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat

    1. you can use a chopstick to test the heat of your oil -insert top of chopstick into oil, tiny bubbles will form around chopstick when temperature is reached

  2. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.

  3. Add chicken in batches, frying each side for about 4-5 minut

es. Flip halfway when golden brown is achieved.

  1. Cool on a wire rack over a paper towel to allow for excess oil to drip off (no soggy greasy wings)

  2. Once all wings have been removed from frying, bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes - just to ensure chicken is cooked all the way through.

  3. Remove and let cool slightly while the sauce is prepped.

That Sauce Tho --

  1. In a saucepan over medium low heat, add unsalted butter, chili pepper flakes, garlic, habanero ( <<optional for that extra kick ) and honey.

  2. Stir everything till well combined. Let sit off heat for 10 minute to allow flavors to fully merge together.

  3. Toss wings in your sauce until ooey gooey happiness levels are achieved.

  4. Serve immediately.

**For an extra touch, sprinkle with finely chopped scallions

Feel free to share there with friends, or hoard them for yourself!!
